(What can we do as a country and as citizens to reduce poverty and ensure basic amenities for every Indian?)
Let suppose you get a chance to visit Paris. You will at once start counting its features, Oh! The streets are sky-clean, the traffic regulations are so strict and there are many sky-scrapers and so on. Why, because we never see the narrow lanes and the horrible poverty. Our India is much better than it where the people donate much and have pity on the poor and beggars.
Indian has achieved much in removing poverty but still movies are made highlighting India’s poverty. So, my point is how we can help in eradicating this problem.
Now, tell me why do people remain poor? When they do not have any work or do not earn. A person get work when he has skills, and these skills come only and only from education. So, the first and the foremost step is to increase literacy rate. Open government schools at low rate of fee and teach them in such a way that they may not feel inferior in front of private school’s students.
Next is the corruption. It is growing day by day like an epidemic, the CWG and the Adarsh Housing Enclave being the biggest examples. The PDS system, the government schools and mainly the politics are badly corrupted. The rich becomes richer and the poor becomes poorer. The left-over money goes in bribery.
In the rain of advantages of globalisation, people have forgotten the biggest disadvantage. The foreign companies invest in our country and slowly & slowly take over our small domestic countries and convert them into their economic slaves. These small companies than get less importance and become poor.
In India the small scale industries are unable to come up because of stiff competition from large companies & MNC’s. The government should help them to come up by giving them funds and advertising their products.
The government should punish officials who illegally encroach on farmer’s land making false promises to give them money and more good place to live. The farmers never get back the land and lose their only source of income.
More & more policies like MNREGA and Nehru Rozgar Yojna should come up. People should be employed in construction work or any other field they are skilled at, no matter if the skill is of a cobbler.
Policies should be made for farmers so that their output is increased. The government should increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) so that they may get a good price for their hard work. Farmers should be more facilities with the Kissan Credit Cards (KCC)
Treaties & Agreements should be signed not only for building more skyscrapers but also to do something for poor.
The politicians should not be given free travelling, free water & electricity supply. Loan activities for rural people should be made easy and cheap because the moneylenders charge a very high rate of interest.
Now let us discuss what we can do so a responsible citizen to remove poverty
1. If you are a housewife, give education to your maid so that an aware citizen comes up from the whole lot.
2. Never allow money to accumulate. Donate it, but not blindfolded. Donate to the right person and in right quantity.
3. Visit your worker’s house and if the conditions are not hygiene, then in improving that.
4. Never send a hungry person back.
5. Never lag behind in raising voice against injustice to poor.

The world's 15 most hardworking nations
Believe it or not, but India has been ranked as one of the most hardworking nations in the world in a survey conducted by Ipsos Global and Reuters late last month. The survey, in some select nations, used a simple technique to arrive at the result it sought. The survey says that full-time workers in most countries get paid holidays, apart from Sundays and in some cases Saturdays too. However, since organisations do not force workers to avail of those holidays, many people do not use these vacation days. So the Ipsos Global and Reuter’s survey on 13,000 people across various countries checked the likelihood of employees using all their vacation days. And the results were quite startling. In the United States as many as 57 per cent of those surveyed said that they would use all their vacation days, whereas in China almost 65 per cent said they would use all their paid holidays.
So check out which are the world's hardest working nations

Water Conservation
The UN World Water Development Report Says –
“By 2025 it is predicted that large parts of India will join countries or regions having absolute water scarcity.”
This all is threatening! By 2025, nearly 2 billion people will live in absolute water scarcity. We all read news about water scarcity or people fighting for water. But why are we only facing this problem when the other countries getting less water than us do not face any? Have a look at this –
“On one side, Israel receives only 25cm. of annual rainfall while India receives 114cm of rainfall, but then also Israel does not face any water scarcity.”
Why? The answer calls for Water Management in India. Let us read some water management techniques in India –
CONSTRUCTION OF DAMS – Dams were referred as “Temples of India” by Jawaharlal Nehru. They are the multipurpose projects and lifelines of Indian Economy because in addition to the storage of water, dams are also used for irrigation, electricity generation, flood control, recreation, navigation, and fish breeding. For example – The Bhakra Nangal Dam generates very large amount of electricity. The Indira Gandhi Canal has brought greenery to Rajasthan and various other states.
RAINWATER HARVESTING – This is yet popular method used for water conservation. This can be practiced by each that house which can afford an underground tank with filtration facilities. In this, the water that falls on the roofs of the house flows through a pipe into an underground tank where it is filtered and then used for various purposes except drinking.
DRIP IRRIGATION SYSTEM – This method is used in agriculture because a large amount of water is used in agriculture and that calls for water conservation. In this method, instead of large amount of water used directly for irrigation, water is given drop by drop so that it is not wasted.
SPRINKLER SYSTEM – This is another good water conserving system for agriculture. In the rotating sprinkler system, the machine sprinkles water on all the crops all around it and has a wider reach than the human hand. It also reduces the mechanical work.
This was all to be done by the government, now let us come to our responsibilities like –
Use a mug and bucket instead of a hosepipe for washing your cars.
Water your plants with the water in which vegetables have been washed.
Keep a bucket on your terrace while it is raining and use the collected water for small purposes.
Close any tap that you opened in the public places.
Do not leave the tap opened while you are brushing your teeth.
But these are not all and only reading these will not do. Go and try these methods as soon as you get a chance. Even the smallest try will do because when small drops are collected they make a mighty ocean.
One more work you should do is that you should inspire other people to conserve water.
“Look, Water, the elixir of life is running out,
Save it before it makes our life run out.”

Happiness of Giving
The word “Give” has two meanings, the first one means to give your possession to someone else freely and second is to make over in exchange or payment but the one that provides us happiness is the first one.
Now think over this, a person who donates food to a charity is also giving and the government also gives us facilities but what is the basic difference between these? The government, in actual is not giving, it is dealing with us by providing facilities and taking taxes, while the person is not doing so. This is the Art of Giving. This art has the ability to satisfy both the giver and the taker because the taker gets his desire fulfilled and when we give someone, we do not go empty handed, we receive blessings which are more important than anything.
But some people do not have the ability or being particular, the desire to be the practitioner of this art. Read the following news item,
“Only two of the many billionaires of China accept Gates-Buffet invitation for donating money in their project “The Giving Pledge”
I wonder why people don’t want to donate money. Will they take a bath in it or they want to use it only for their own luxury. Why don’t they think that excess of everything is always harmful and that there are many people around who need their help and charity.
Only giving is not important. The timing also counts. Imagine that your friend asked for your help within two days and you gave it the third day when he had got a good scolding from the teacher, what will your receive, only cursing. So, take care that you donate the right thing at the right time to the right person because some people do not deserve kindness.
Giving does not only involve giving material things. It can also involve giving non-materialistic and non-measurable things which are very important for us. For example you can provide literacy to the maid that comes to your house. Doing this, you will receive blessings and will ass a literate human being to the huge population.
At last, I want to advice that everyone should learn this Art to lead a prosperous life and I would also like to advice that never practice this Art forcefully because it will give the opposite effects and you will not be happy. So, donate to someone who is in need of and experience the rare happiness that will make your life fruitful.
